Meet Karen

KAREN WHITEHEAD, MS, LCSW, CCH
PROVIDING HYPNOTHERAPY AND COUNSELING - ALPHARETTA, GA

You’ve been thinking about this for a long time, googling therapist near me, tips to sleep better, how to stop worrying, or just trying to figure out how and when you might feel like yourself again. A family member or doctor may have recommended you see someone. You’ve even visited the same pages multiple times telling yourself you should be able to handle your stress and anxiety on your own, but secretly hoping you’ll read the magic words that will take away the spiraling thoughts in your head.  You feel like you just get a handle at controlling it, then it slips from your fingers.  What you really want is to wake up and have your life be different, better!

Talking to a therapist is different than talking to family or friends. Your spouse, mom, or friends want to fix it for you and solve the problem. If only it were that easy.

I know what it’s like to feel overwhelmed and anxious, juggling the pieces of your life and feeling like you’re constantly busy, yet you’re not doing well with any of it. I became a therapist because I believe everyone deserves to feel calm even when you’re surrounded by chaos. I want people to know you don’t have to be defined by your anxiety, diagnosis, or responsibilities. If you’re suffering, I can help you figure out what’s behind your stress and anxiety, deal with the things that are hard to say out loud, and build your toolbox of coping strategies so you can focus on living your life instead of watching it as an outsider. Email or call/text me at 678-827-2111 for a free 15 minute phone consultation. I'd love to hear from you!

What's it like to be in the room with me?

One of my favorite parts of being a therapist is I get to be myself.  I'm professional, but not formal. Warm and sincere, but not sappy.  My clients say I challenge them when they need it and hold them accountable without being pushy. I'm an active listener (meaning I seek to understand) and will be honest with you. I teach tools such as mindfulness because of its success in helping anxiety, depression, chronic pain, and stress. (I know this from personal experience!) There's a whole lot of compassion (not pity!) in the room, mixed with some tenacity because this is about you feeling better!  Email or call today to let me hold some of what’s weighing you down so you can find a sense of calm and joy.

Some Personal Stuff

I'm married and have 3 children all off the payroll.  I'm from Ohio, but am a true fan of my Alma Mater, Michigan, GO BLUE!  I love spending time with my family, going to the movies, hiking, knitting, traveling (you'll always have advanced notice if I'll be out of the office), and playing with my rescue pup.
